Meet Atlas and Lyra

Hi there! We’re Atlas and Lyra, the adventure sisters of @paws_pdx! Our hoomans brought us home in September 2019. Even though our hoomans have fostered many cats and kittens through local shelters and continue to today, we are in fact rescued from Craigslist. Please always adopt, don’t shop… but you can’t help who you fall in love with!

Our hoomans always knew they wanted adventure cats. Mum’s previous kitty Luna always craved the outdoors, but didn’t get a chance to explore until right before passing. Our hoomans knew that if we were adventurous and up for it, they wanted to start training us for adventures as soon they could. We were so little when we started training that we had to use a guinea pig harness!

Our adventures started small, but have slowly grow into bigger and bigger adventures with our growing confidence. We adventure to our own backyard, to local trails, and to weekend getaways in the mountains or at the beach. We have kayaked in the alpine lakes of Mount Rainer, ran away from the terrifying sounds of waterfalls, and hope to practice bicycling this summer!

Sometimes, our adventures with our hoomans consist of being carried 7.4 miles of a hike and walking 100 feet of it. Sometimes, we like to walk in completely different directions just to get a riot out of our mum and dad.

Adventures always consist of eating as much grass as we possibly can, and hacking it up later or pooping it out in a not so healthy manner.

But most of all, our adventures are the most important time to bond with each other and to give our humans an enriching environment. It’s crazy how much they would choose to sleep if given the chance.

But being an adventure cat has been a little scary lately. We encounter many dogs on the trail. Some walk on by, some try to stop and sniff. Some are on leashes, but most are not. So, if you’re reading this and want to help make the trails safer for us and our family, consider sharing our and other adventure cat stories! We’re out here and just want to share the trail! Please leash your dog and remind others to do the same!
